Communications Specialist I / II

Hiring Range: $38,500 – $50,000 Depending on Qualifications

Commerce City is seeking two (2) Communications professionals to manage day-to-day marketing, communications, and public relations initiatives within the city.

Communications Specialist I:

Responsibilities of a Communications Specialist I include researching and writing material for City publications; coordinating production of communication materials, such as department brochures, graphic materials, newsletters, and advertisements; and supporting the communication needs of assigned departments.

Qualifications for this entry position are a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, and communications; demonstrated strong competency in writing and desktop publishing; experience in new and social media tools. 1-2 years of experience (including internships) is preferred.



Communications Specialist II:

Responsibilities of a Communications Specialist II include all of the above plus marketing and public relations initiatives that maximize visibility for City issues and events across multiple departments that and promote public awareness and participation.

Qualifications for this mid-level position are a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or public relations; two to four years of related experience; ability to complete multiple tasks within established timeframes; consumer-focused and or/parks and recreation marketing/public relations experience; demonstrated competency with desktop publishing and graphic design software. Municipal government or other public sector experience preferred.
