Ann Lockhart, President – Programs

Ann Lockhart, Colorado Press Women president for the second time, is also parliamentarian for the National Federation of Press Women. She was public relations director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment in the 1980s. In the 1990s she handled community relations at the department on a major research study on the potential off-site health effects of the former Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Plant. She previously edited a campus newspaper for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Now retired, she does part-time writing and editing and much volunteering.

A former high school teacher, weekly newspaper advertising representative, reporter and editor, she holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Iowa and a master's in applied communication from the University of Denver. She was the first president of the National Public Health Information Coalition and was recently president of the Rocky Flats Cold War Museum board. She’s in a book club and an investment club and loves reading, attending movies and bicycling. She also tutors refugees in English and teaches AARP's drivers safety classes for seniors.
