Marsha Shuler has been state government reporter for The Advocate, the state capital newspaper in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for more than 25 years.
An award-winning journalist, she previously covered state government, city hall and a variety of other beats, and served as editor of the Sunday magazine at The Times in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she taught a mass communications course at Centenary College.
She has served NFPW in various capacities, including regional director, elections committee member and First Amendment director; she is currently first vice president. Shuler has been president of Louisiana Press Women and the Capitol Correspondents Association. She has been a member of NFPW since 1972.
