Beth Simmons and Katherine Honda will discuss The Legacy of Arthur Lakes, their biography of Colorado’s most famous geologist and dinosaur bone collector who started the Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum in Golden. Gary Raham designed the cover and book layout.
Beth, who has a Ph.D. in Colorado history, teaches geology at Denver area colleges. Kathy works as an interlibrary loan technician at the Auraria Library and as a volunteer at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. It was her eagle eyes that located Lakes’ more than 900 articles, nine books and all the illustrations and artwork he produced. John Ghist of Friends of Dinosaur Ridge arranged the CD-ROM of Lakes’ work included in the back of the book.Close
